Our Artist You Need to Know this week is Logan Mize. Today we’re spotlighting his nostalgic song “Come Back Road.”
It’s the perfect song to listen to if you miss home. Maybe you’re away at college or recently moved away for a job. There are the familiar sights, smells, and sounds that will always be home.
Our hometown’s shaped who we are as people and that’s what Mize sings about with relatable lyrics “You can lose a lot of things, but it’s hard to lose a hometown.” It built us as people and it is always a place you can go back to if you lose yourself. That will always stick with you.
One of the sobering things about leaving home and coming back is realizing how much you miss those certain things. In the moment you wanted to get out of dodge, but you really did have some great times. “Football lights off in the distance, the moon and God your only witness, try to act like you don’t miss it” are the powerful lyrics Mize weaves in the song to describe that all to familiar feeling.
