Throwback Jam: “Straight Tequila Night”

Don’t call it a comeback, but when John Anderson’s “Straight Tequila Night” went to the top of the charts in 1992, it was his first number one since 1983, thus forcing the public to label this Anderson’s comeback.

The song was penned by Debbie Hupp and Kent Robbins (“Every Light in the House is On”). The song comes from a point of view of a local bartender, who knows full well that when a regular female patron starts drinking tequila straight, she tends to come undone with thoughts of her former love, and shows a not so friendly side of herself.

Oh the power of tequila.
