New Music: October 15, 2018

Country music is in such a good place, and each week are gifted fresh, new music. This past week Morgan Evans released his debut album, ThingsThat We Drink To which already has his coveted number one hit, “Kiss Somebody.” Expect a lot of fun, upbeat songs from Evans, but also some romantic love songs, especially with the song “Dance With Me,” a duet with his wife Kelsea Ballerini.

Also releasing his first full album is Jimmie Allen. Mercury Lane gives us 15 (yes 15!) new songs. It’s impossible to choose a favorite, because Allen is just that good. Each song has a catchy melody, lyrics that get stuck in your head; plus Allen’s voice is one of the best in Nashville. This album is a real treat to his fans and is sure to gain him new ones.

We also have new music that reflects the patriotic side of country artists, with Justin Moore’s “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home” and Jerrod Niemann’s “Old Glory.” There is nothing better than good music honoring those who make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Old Dominion is working on their latest album but gave us all a sneak peek at things to come, with their latest single “Make It Sweet.” This song was written and recorded all in one day, with the help of well-respected writer and producer, Shane McAnally.

Speaking of Old Dominon, their tour mate for 2019, Mitchell Tenpenny, released the first song of his upcoming (December 14th) album. Both titled “Telling All My Secrets” it seems that good things are in the works for Tenpenny this fall.

Jo Dee Messina released “Reckless Love” which is actually a cover of a worship song by Cory Asbury. She’s had a difficult year after being diagnosed with cancer, so it’s glad to hear her releasing new music.

Country up and comer Alex Stern released a powerful new song called “Fingers Crossed.” Keep an eye on Alex the rest of this year and 2019. She’s part of Brantley Gilbert’s “Kick It In The Ship” festival lineup next week which features some of the industry’s most talented artists including Brantley Gilbert, Luke Combs, Michael Ray, Blackhawk, and Faren Rachels.

New country artist Ryan Robinette dropped a new song called “Girl Talks.” In the mold of a Kane Brown or Michael Ray, Robinette has a modern country sound to him and this song is no different.

Another up and coming country artist, Hannah Bethel, released a cleverly-written new song called “Train.”
