UK Country Spotlight: Raintown

This week, we’ll be spotlighting numerous music artists and groups that are from the United Kingdom. Our podcast will be dedicated to talking all things about UK country music. Two of our favorites include The Shires and Catherine McGrath, but that’s just the beginning.

Raintown is a husband and wife duo that hails from Glasgow featuring Paul Bain and Claire McArthur-Bain. They have a modern sound to them but you can tell that they are in touch with their roots. Chemistry between the two is apparent as you listen to their music, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The duo has won numerous awards when it comes to country music across the pond. They have won Duo of the Year, Group of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year at the British Country Music Association Awards. They have also won numerous UK Country Music Awards including Artist of the Year, Duo of the Year, and Album of the Year.

The way they are able to blend their voices and harmonize is similar to a Thompson Square or Gloriana. The thing that jumps out to me is that if you heard them on country music here in the states you wouldn’t flinch. Their sound definitely fits what country music is now. I’m excited to see them progress in the coming years.

Check out a few of their songs below.
